Chakras – an introduction

Here is a brief introduction to Chakras.

Chakra can be translated from Sanskrit to English as a disc.

The Chakras are often thought of as a ‘wheel’ or a spinning vortex. In a way it is what connects our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual being.  The ancient texts explains the main Chakras are associated with the spine. The frontal ‘place’ or location of the Chakras is referred to as the Kshetram.

But to understand the Chakras we need to understand the Energetic Body: the Koshas, prana, spiritual being… And this is the interesting part of yoga:

We are not just the body, we are so much more. And it’s all connected. How you feel is expressed in your physical body. Your spiritual wellbeing affects you emotionally mentally and physically. When we practise asana, or yoga poses, we also connect to all the other realms.

This is why yoga – and ayurveda are such special practises.
