Fluid like Water
In ayurveda and yoga we refer to the five elements or pancha mahabhutas. The philosophy is that all is created with a unique combination of the elements.
The element of water, Jala or Aap, is all about fluidity, flow, creativity, sensuality, sexuality, taste… We relate the water element to the pelvis where we hold our “watery” organs such as the reproductive system and the bladder. It is the seat of our Swadisthana Chakra or Sacral Energy centre.
Fluidity is also related to our joints and the synovial fluid which keeps the joints lubricated. If the joints are healthy we move through life with flow and ease. Physically and energetically.
Too little water we feel dry: in our skin, our mouth, no juiciness or creativity including our sensual expression.
If there is too much we might feel heavy, bloated, sticky and finding it difficult to set boundaries.
How do you flow through life?
How do you express your sensuality, creativity?
If you need more flow
move your joints, oil and massage your joints, dance, paint, increase your fluid intake.
If you feel oily and sticky
enjoy baths with dried herbal or use dry herbal powder for massage. Add them to your cooking and enjoy less oil in the meals.
