Always a student

Being on the path of yoga is ever evolving, changing, flowing, challenging and as much as we find bliss, joy and happiness on the path we also experience pain, despair and our own shadows. And we are always on the path and always a student.

Having just returned from yet another training with one of my Maha (Great) teachers Shiva Rea in California I am still jet lagged and tired. In the space between being in the full flow of yoga immersion and now integrating yoga into my householder daily life.

I always viewed yoga as a daily practise. Not just on the mat but also in daily life. Not just how we approach yoga poses but also how we live our regular day to day living. Same with Ayurveda. It’s a way of living. Shiva’s teachings of yoga, ayurveda and life resonate with me. And being in a sangha (community) of same minded yoginis (we all happened to be women) was absolutely amazing. I am feeling renewed, rejuvenated, nurtured and nourished.

Not that 10 days of full on yoga doesn’t highlight shadows too. It does. And that is good. It highlights what we usually sweep under the carpet. But when inner our light radiates the shadows show up. We can face them and embrace them.

I am excited and inspired to continue my training with this amazing woman, continue my community with my students, fellow yogis and teachers, colleagues and friends and family.

Continue your yoga on and off the mat. Embrace the light and shadows. Find inspiration with yoga teachers in person, writings and online. Yoga teachers, philosophers, inspirational people can be anyone… friends, pets, authors and family! Some of my most profound teachers of inner wisdom are my yoga student. And I thank you for your inspiration.
