Most yoga training teaches you how to move. The alignment and technique.
Very few teach you why it works from a yoga perspective.
Ayurveda, yoga's sister science, is the missing piece. It explains why the same practice feels grounding for one student and heavy for another. Why summer calls for something different to autumn. Why you, as a teacher or a student, can feel the energy in the room shift — and know what to do about it.
This course gives you that framework.
This course is for:
Experienced practitioners who want to understand yoga beyond technique
Those drawn to Ayurveda but unsure how it truly connects to yoga
Practitioners and teachers who value education and whys over quick fixes
Yoga teachers who want to teach with clarity and confidence
Teachers who want inspiration and knowledge in leading classes with themes inspired by yoga and ayurveda in accordance with Nature, the seasons and the people in the room
This isn't for you if you're looking for a pose library or a quick trend to add to your marketing. It is for those who genuinely want to understand yoga more deeply — and teach or practise from that place.
"I absolutely loved this course — it has changed how I observe my students, from how they arrive in class and the mood they bring, to how the season and weather might be affecting them that day.
It's also sparked a much greater sense of self-awareness, helping me to reflect on how I show up — not just in the classroom, but on my mat and in my own life too.
I came away with practical ideas I can start incorporating into my day to day life and classes straight away.
Anja is well-informed and engaging throughout. A brilliant course."
— Ash F., yoga teacher & practitioner, round one student
What you’ll gain:
A clear framework that explains why yoga works
The ability to see patterns in students, seasons, and energy
Language to communicate yoga intelligently and accessibly
Confidence teaching mixed groups in the real world
“Anja's course refreshed my memory on the Sankhya and Ayurvedic principles I learned in my Yoga Philosophy certification, and expanded it into very practical, tangible applications in both my own practice and life, as well as my teaching.
Anja is clearly both knowledgeable and passionate about both Ayurveda and Yoga, and brings her calm presence into the teachings. She makes the information accessible for both the newer and seasoned student or teacher alike.
I highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to deepen their understanding and their practice for themselves and/or their students.”

"Having worked with Anja in a variety of ways — including her pregnancy teacher training, 1:1 mentoring, and now this online course — I find her teaching to be very practically focused and tailored to her audience. She has a calm presence, and is very knowledgeable in her field.
The course offered genuine insight into Ayurveda and how it supports yoga practice. As a yoga teacher and practitioner, I found it very interesting and helpful to learn ways I can observe and apply in my classes — and I am already implementing and seeing results.
The live sessions offered great opportunities to ask questions in real time and interact with others who shared stories and personal examples. During times I could not attend, I was still able to reach out with questions and watch recordings when convenient — which I really appreciated."

Understand why yoga works — and how to teach and practise with clarity and confidence.
Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga. Together, they form a complete system for understanding the body, mind, energy, and rhythm of life.
Yet many yoga trainings focus on what to teach — poses, sequences, styles — without fully addressing the deeper framework that explains why these practices work, when they support us, and when they don’t.
This course offers that missing framework.
Through six online live sessions, you’ll learn how Ayurvedic principles underpin yoga — giving you language, context, and confidence so you can adapt intelligently, respond to real people, and stop relying on scripts or trends.
This is not about becoming an Ayurvedic therapist.
It is about understanding yoga more indepth.
"As a practitioner of yoga I found the Ayurveda course very thought provoking It made me realize that when Anya says in classes to check in with how we're feeling and what our bodies need, she is referring to Ayurveda; that we don't always need to practise yoga with the same amount of energy and it's ok to slow down.
When practising yoga it's good to be aware of how your body and mind feel and to take the differing seasons and times of day into account. For example, if it's really a hot day it's good to do cooling breaths, whereas if it's really cold and we feel like huddling inwards it's good to be more energetic. If we've had a busy tiring day at work, followed by a commute, we need to take time to slow down and be present with our breath and practice slow stretches.
Some of the other attendees were teachers of yoga and found it useful to bear in mind when teaching their classes.

Hi, I am Anja
Author of Teaching Yoga for the Menstrual Cycle - an Āyurvedic Approach, a yoga teacher and an ayurvedic practitioner (BSc, PGDip).
This course is taught by me, a yoga teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience (and another decade of practising), and an Ayurvedic practitioner since 2009, with:
a BSc and PGDip in Ayurveda
clinical apprenticeship in Ayurvedic hospitals in India
teacher trainer and creator of several teacher training courses and lectures
extensive experience integrating Ayurveda into yoga teaching, seasonal practice, and life stages
Ayurveda was the missing piece that brought coherence, understanding and depth to my yoga practice and teaching — and this course shares that framework in an accessible, grounded way.
Anja is also the author of Teaching Yoga for the Menstrual Cycle: an Āyurvedic Approach — described by Shiva Rea as "a treasure for women everywhere."
