Top sustainable yoga brands

My favourite sustainable and ethical yoga brands

At the time of writing I am wearing some of my favourite sustainable and ethical brands. And as I get asked about yoga brands, yoga clothes and yoga outfits I wanted to share.

And I’ll add an extra ethical brand as a bonus.

My favourite sustainable yoga brands I am wearing today

Wellicious

Wellicious only use organic, biodegradable, and certified materials and environmentally friendly production processes. The Cradle to Cradle Certified® yoga product line is beautifully designed, stylish, elegant and very comfortable and flexible to wear. I wear my Easy Pocket Leggings in these photos.

I also know I am supporting a small business with an inspirational female founder. If you use the discount code ANJA10 you’ll get a 10% discount on your purchases.

BAM

Myself and the husband got quite obsessed with BAM during lockdown - it was retail therapy for sure. Bamboo is incredibly soft and comfortable even on the most sensitive skin. And bamboo is the fastest-growing crop and absorbs five times more carbon than hardwood trees! One of the best fabrics to use for the environment.

They have lots of men’s clothes as well.

Today I am wearing socks, sports bra, top and long sleeves from BAM bamboo clothing.

Stripe and stare

I only recently discovered Stripe and Stare and pretty much updated my underwear drawer. (And today I’m wearing their knickers. But I also love their vest tops). Like bamboo, their fabrics are so soft and gentle on the skin. On the website they explain how “TENCEL™ Modal, an amazing eco-friendly fabric that represents a milestone in the development of environmentally sustainable textiles. Made with wood pulp from sustainable tree farms, TENCEL™ are the most sustainable fibres around. A naturally sustainable and soft fibre that starts with the tree and ends with the softest fabric you’ve ever felt.”

Finnistere

This is not a specific yoga company but I admire their ethics and transparency. They say “Finisterre designs functional and sustainable product for those that share a love of the sea”. Which is me! They have leggings, vest tops, sports bras and base layers in bamboo and other fabrics. As well as a whole host of other stuff (including bikinis!). I love my hoody, and my woolly recycled fleece (which I’m wearing today) has kept me super warm and comfortable over the winter.

They have a large men’s section too.

BONUS: WUKA (period underwear)

Not wearing WUKA today as I am not on my period. But if I was I would be. WUKA “believe that periods should not cost the earth. Equality, social and environmental responsibility are at the heart of everything we do”.

Also when using period pants you are not using plastic products which take years to break down. Period pants are reusable and so comfortable to wear.

Where we spend our money and what brands/people we support matter. As a one-person business myself I am very aware of this.

What I do and share is my life, my passion and also how I generate my income. Which is the income that I share with others. Obviously all the usual outgoings, rent, insurance, food, bills, water rates... But also who I choose to support when it comes to what I wear. Do I want to support a big multi-dollar brand who with questionable work ethics? Or smaller independents? Organic? Fairtrade? Ethical? Every time we choose who we support we also support their investments. Who they employ, how they do their research, their ethics, and their visions.

We might not always be able to support the ideal. We might not always be able to find somewhere that aligns with us 100% and we compromise. I don’t always shop for the most ethical organic sustainable brands because it’s just not available to me all the time. And sometimes it can get too stressful for our mental health too. Sometimes we just need to enjoy what brings us joy as well.

Do you have any favourite ethical sustainable brands I might not know about?

On that note, some of the links and discount codes here also happen to support me. With no extra cost to you. So please use the links and do enjoy the discount ;-)
