The roots and core of our being.
After giving birth our very core has been completely transformed. The core of our being has been changed to be a Mother. Family dynamics are changing, relationship to partner, friends and how we see ourselves as a woman with a career and social life has changed and will continue doing so. The very roots and core of who we thought we were is now in constant change.
Wheat Free Bread
I am on a wheat free diet (which has now lapsed and I enjoy cakes and an occasional sandwich – but definitely limited!). Digestion (and skin) is feeling the benefits and on this journey I have discovered baking my own bread again. (Thank you dad for inspiration).
The right to defend ourselves and claim back our power
What is happening in our World where we allow boys to grow up thinking it is ok to this? Rape is not sex – rape is violence. It is raw and it is apparently happening every 14 hours in India according to the BBC’s website. I might add that is to women. Who knows how often rape and gang rape happens to men. Rape against women and men are still not talked about. It is still a taboo and is maybe one of the most horrific forms of violenc
Celebrating the Sisterhood PERIOD
As we embrace going with the flow of life us ladies are also learning to go with the flow of our bodies. Literally.
Everything in life cyclical. Planet Earth spins around it self over a 24 hour period, it takes a year to orbit the sun and so we have our 24 hour clock, twelve months and our seasons. And while a woman is menstruating she is experiencing her very own cycle.
In the ancient science of yoga this resolve is referred to as a Sankalpa. A Sankalpa is a resolve, intention or the planting of a seed which grows and becomes reality. It’s a statement for how you truly want to live your life, your aspirations and spiritual conviction.
Timing is everything
One of the most important principles for living a healthy balanced Ayurvedic lifestyle is to cultivate a regular routine. This means getting up at the same time every day, eating at regular times, going to the toilet at a similar time every day and going to bed at the same time each evening. Another advice is the actual timing of one’s activities.
Introducing Ayurveda – the science of life
Ayurveda is to live according to one’s individual constitution, to the seasons, place where one lives, one’s age etc. When we learn to listen to our own body and act accordingly we live in balance – we live Ayurvedic. This is also how we apply ayurveda to our yoga practise and in our yoga class.
Girl Power and the new Mum
Birth being a natural process does not equal it do being easy and light. Labour and birth can last hours and even days. It can be tremendously exhausting. But somehow the new mother finds the strength and power to continue and birth her baby. Congratulations – that is true girl power.
Calm Mums and Blissful Babies
Becoming a mother is a wonderful natural change in a woman’s life. The body changes and hormones, emotions and relationships are undergoing huge transformations during this time. The mum-to-be can experience times of happiness and increased energy but at times staying positive and healthy can become a challenge.
Yoga and the journey to motherhood
Going to yoga can be a break from any pressure you may feel regarding becoming pregnant (from yourself, your partner, mother-in-law, friends…), it will give you time to breathe and to find a place of stillness. You may find that dealing with challenging yoga postures helps you deal with challenging life situations.
What your style?
There are so many names out there and it is getting rather confusing when you are looking to join a class. So here is a lowdown of yoga styles.
Complete the circle
Now we are flowing again. This time reversing the sequence. So take a deep complete inhale and exhale completely in your down dog.
And the Dog…
Downward Facing Dog is maybe one of the most recognisable yoga postures in Vinyasa Flow Yoga. And it is practised quite a bit in a class as part of these connection postures, or Vinyasas.
Spacious Heart
Now we are back to the backbends. We investigated a couple of poses back in February and March and now it is time to put them into our Sun Salute.
Feeling the Sun – the fire in your belly
With the sun out and clear blue skies it is a wonderful time to celebrate and embrace Surya – the Sun. So we continue the sequence of Sun Salutations – Surya Namaskaram.
